Mitä? SLURPS - nomadinen nykytaiteen näyttämö - on suunnattu esitystaiteen, kokeellisen katu- ja nukketeatterin, performanssin, runouden, sirkuksen, tanssin, teatterin ja äänitaiteen ammattilaisille. Rohkaisemme erityisesti marginaalin tekijöitä hakemaan. Taiteilijajoukon monimuotoisuus huomioidaan valintoja tehtäessä.
Kesällä 2026 SLURPSin näyttämönä toimivat Esitysteltan lisäksi Kotkan Meripäivien festivaalialueelle sijoittuvat Kokemukselliset tilausesitykset. Etsimme moninaisia teoksia jotka ovat suhteessa Esitystelttaan ja kokemusesityksen muotoon.
SLURPS kesän 2026 näyttämön kuraattoreina toimivat Veera Aaltonen, Julius Elo, Oxi Koskelainen, Arre Nimell, Anna Olkinuora ja Hessu Ystäväinranta.
Ohjelmisto valitaan avoimella haulla ja kutsumenettelyllä. Valinnoista pyritään ilmoittamaan viikolla 14.
Mikä on SLURPS? SLURPS on vuonna 2023 toimintansa aloittanut muuntautuva ja taiteilijavetoinen nykyesityksen näyttämö.
SLURPS haluaa luoda tapahtumia, joissa taide voi löytää uusia yleisöjä menemällä ihmisten luo. SLURPS toteuttaa hillittömiä, lempeitä, avoimia ja herkkiä tapoja olla ja jäsentyä esitysten äärellä. SLURPS luo rakenteen ja alustan, joka järjestää yhteyksiä eri taiteenalojen yleisöjen ja tekijöiden kesken, sekä mahdollistaa yhteisöllistä kuratointia. SLURPS rakentaa kevyitä ja kestäviä tapoja tuottaa esitystoimintaa.
Millä haen? Kesän 2026 ohjelmistoon on kaksi hakukategoriaa: Esitysteltta ja Kokemukselliset tilausesitykset.
Kotkan Meripäivät on n. 200 000 kävijän kaupunkifestivaali, jonka pääpaikkana toimii Kotkan Kantasatama. SLURPS-nykytaiteen näyttämö rantautuu keskelle Meripäivien festivaalialuetta, joten festivaalin luonne on hyvä ottaa huomioon avoimen haun esitysehdotuksissa. Telttanäyttämö SLURPS-telttanäyttämö on taiteilijavetoinen nykyesityksen näyttämö.
Mukaan voi hakea teoksella, joka voi olla jossain jo aiemmin esitetty, ensi-ilta tai esitysluonnos. Hakea voit sooloesityksellä tai maksimissaan neljän henkilön työryhmänä. Esityksen kesto voi olla noin 20-45 minuuttia.
Telttanäyttämö on 4 x 8 m vaaleanpunainen toriteltta, jossa on irroitettavat seinät. Teltan pitkän sivun seinissä on läpinäkyvät ikkunat. Esitykset voivat sijoittua teltan sisään, ympärille tai edustalle. Kotkan Meripäivillä maapohjana toimii Meripäivien satama-alueen asfalttikenttä. Teltan alustaksi levitetään vihreää messumattoa.
Teltassa tai sen ulkopuolella ei ole kiinteää katsomoa. Esityksestä riippuen teltan sisätiloissa yleisö voi istua messumaton päällä, mutta muuten katsojat seuraavat esityksiä seisten tai alueelta valmiiksi löytyvien istuinten päältä.
Esitysten tulee olla kevyesti rakennettavissa ja purettavissa. Yleisömäärää ei ole rajattu, mutta telttanäyttämö sijaitsee keskellä Kotkan Meripäiviä, joten teltan edustalla on todennäköisesti kulkevaa ihmisjoukkoa. Teltan sisään mahtuu esityksen tilankäytöstä riippuen noin 20 hlöä ja sen voi halutessaan rajata intiimimmäksi esitystilaksi sulkemalla kaikki neljä seinää.
Telttanäyttämössä tarjoamme sähkön, äänitekniikan (PA, äänipöytä ja 2 x mikrofonia) ja teknikon / miksaajan esitysten käyttöön. Teltalla ei ole erillistä esitysvalokalustoa eikä sitä ole mahdollista pimentää.
Kokemukselliset tilausesitykset Etsimme tilaustöinä kevytrakenteisia kokemusesityksiä 1-2 hengen työryhmiltä. Haemme kantaesityksiä. Toivomme esitysten olevan suhteessa konseptiimme, jonka inspiraationa ovat
Labyrintti Meripäivien Varjo Eksyminen
Esitykset tapahtuvat 1-3 kokijalle kerrallaan Kotkan Meripäivien virallisella tapahtuma-alueella torstaina 23.7.2026. Keskiviikko 22.7 on varattu harjoituksiin ja kenraaleihin.
Kokemusesitykset levittäytyvät laajemmalle alueelle Meripäiville. Alueen tarkempi karttapiirros, vuoden 2025 tapahtumasta, löytyy täältä. SLURPSin telttanäyttämöllä on käynnissä samanaikaista ohjelmaa kokemusesitysten kanssa.
Palkkiot Avoimen haun esityksistä maksetaan esityspalkkio. Kokemusesityksen työryhmälle maksetaan teospalkkio sekä esityspalkkiot.
Lisäksi tarjoamme avoimen haun kautta valituille esitystyöryhmille sekä kokemusiesityksiksi valikoituneille teoksille kuratoriaalista keskustelua ja mentorointia, järjestelyapua paikan päällä sekä ruoat harjoitus- ja esityspäivinä.
Taiteilijoille, jotka matkustavat Kotkaan, korvataan edestakaiset matkat Suomen sisällä edullisimman vähäpäästöisen kulkuneuvon mukaan. Mikäli esiintyjillä on erillinen tarve yöpymiselle esimerkiksi esiintymisaikataulun vuoksi on SLURPSin mahdollista tarjota koulumajoitus. Majoitustarpeesta keskustellaan esityskohtaisesti.
Palkkio voidaan maksaa vaihtoehtoisesti joko euroina (€) tai nannana (Ø).
SLURPS haluaa luoda vaihtoehtoista taloutta käyttäen myös omaa, nanna-nimistä aikavaluuttaa. Nanna on uusi kokeellinen aikavaluutta, jota voi käyttää vastavuoroisiin lahjoihin valuutan haltijoiden kanssa.
Telttanäyttämö // Palkkio Yksi esiintyminen SLURPS-näyttämöllä vastaa 3 tuntia kahden (yht. 6h) SLURPS-työryhmän jäsenen aikaa. Viime vuonna nanna-aikavaluuttaa käytettiin esimerkiksi apurahahakemuksen kirjoittamisen ja budjetoinnin mentorointiin.
Esiintymispalkkiona maksetaan 203 euroa per henkilö. Palkkio voidaan maksaa palkanmaksuna (palkkio+lomakorvaus) tai laskutuksellla.
Kokemukselliset tilausesitykset // Palkkio Kokemuksellisen tilausesityksen palkkio on kokonaissummaltaan 1200€ per työryhmä (palkkio sisältää materiaalikulut) sekä sen lisäksi esiintymispalkkio 203€ per esiintyjä. Esiintymispalkkio voidaan maksaa palkanmaksuna (palkkio+lomakorvaus) tai laskutuksella.

Open Call for the SLURPS performance programme 2026

Time and place In Kotka, as part of the Kotka Maritime Festival, on July 23rd
Who can answer the call? This open call is for professionals working in the fields of live art, experimental street art and puppet theatre, performance art, poetry, circus, dance, sound arts and theatre. Marginalized voices are encouraged to apply. The diversity of the group of artists is taken into account when making the selections.
In summer 2026, SLURPS festival will come alive via the Stage Tent and experience-based performances located on the festival grounds. We are looking for diverse works that engage with the Performance Tent and the format of the experience-based performance. You find the details on both options later in the announcement.
The curators of the SLURPS performance event programme of 2026 are Veera Aaltonen, Julius Elo, Oxi Koskelainen, Arre Nimell, Anna Olkinuora and Hessu Ystäväinranta.
To our best ability, decisions will be delivered during the week 14.
What is SLURPS? SLURPS, established in 2023, is a nomadic stage for contemporary performances, lead and made by artists.
SLURPS is about creating events where art can find its audience and go to them.
SLURPS is about unrestrained, kind, tender and delicate encounters between art and its audiences.
SLURPS creates a new kind of artistic platform and aims to host structures that help increase contacts between artists of different fields as well as with audiences. It enables community-based curating and develops lightweight and sustainable ways of producing performance activities.
How to apply? When applying, you can choose between two categories: the programme for the Performance Tent, or the Experience-based performance programme.
The Maritime Days takes place in the town of Kotka, and attracts appr. 200 000 visitors each year. The majority of the events are organized in the area of Kotka Old Port (also known as Port of Kantasatama).
SLURPS performances shall be situated in the festival area. Therefore, it is important to take the nature of the festival into account in proposals submitted to the open call.To learn more about the context and atmosphere, please visit https://meripaivat.com/.
The Performance Tent Programme You may apply with a new piece, a sketch for one, or a piece that has been made and seen previously. You may apply with a solo performance or a working group of max. 4 people. The duration of the performances within the programme may vary between 20 – 45 minutes.
The tent in question is a 4 x 8 meter wide, pink market tent. The sides of the tent are detachable, while there are also windows on the longer sides of the plastic walls. Art can be shown from inside the tent, in its surroundings or in front of it.
The ground in the location is asphalt. An exhibition carpet will be placed as the floor inside the tent.
There are no fixed seats outside the tent. The audience can be welcomed to sit on the carpet, or follow the art from outside the tent, either sitting or using seats available for the festival visitors.
Performances must be easy to set up and dismantle. There are not any audience size restrictions, and due to the central placement of the tent, a considerable amount of passers-by are to be expected. The tent can hold inside it appr. 20 persons, at maximum. A more intimate experience can be achieved by closing all the four sides.
The Performance Tent offers you electricity, a sound system (incl. a PA, a mixer and 2 mics), as well as a sound technician. The tent cannot be made a dark space, and SLURPS cannot provide light equipment.
Experience-based performance Programme Along with the Performance Tent Programme, we are seeking commissioned, lightweight experience-based performances from creative teams of 1–2 artists. The commissioned pieces are to be premieres, and we are looking for proposals that relate to our concept, which is inspired by

Pieces we are looking to commission, are to have an audience of 1-3 members at a time within the festival area. The performances are to be shown on Thu 23rd, while the previous day, Wed 22nd is reserved for preparations and general rehearsals.
The commissioned pieces can find their location quite freely within the whole festival area. Find the map version of the year 2025 festival here.
The two programmes in the Performance Tent and the commissioned programme will run simultaneously during the festival.
Compensations Performances selected through the The Performance Tent Programme will receive a performance fee. The creative team of an immersive performance will receive both a work fee and performance fees.
The SLURPS curators are available for curatorial discussions and mentoring and helping hands on location. Catering will be provided during the rehearsal day and the main day.
For those coming from outside of Kotka, two-way travel tickets inside Finland will be provided, using preferably the most ecological transport options. If necessary, regarding the schedules of the festival, artists can be offered accommodation in a temporary dormitory put up in a school. The accommodation and travel needs will be discussed with each individual / group.
The commission fee can be delivered as a monetary compensation or as `luxusnams´. SLURPS hosts its own, alternative currency and an experimental time-bank, called luxusnams. Luxusnams can be exchanged to gifts or time donations between participants. Examples of the usage of luxusnams from previous years include mentoring grant applications and budget planning. To give a measure, one performance on the tent stage equals 3 hours of work for two organizers in the SLURPS working group, or 6 hours for one.
Performance fees // Tent Stage A performance fee, €203 per person, can be either by salary (including additional costs and compensations) or by invoice.
Compensation and Performance fees // Commissioned Experience-based performance The fee for a commissioned experience-based performance is €1,200 per creative team, plus a performance fee of €203 per performer. The performance fee can be paid either as salary (fee + holiday compensation) or via invoicing.
